EnergoBit was one of the main shareholders of Cluj-Napoca’s football team: CFR 1907. The club was founded in 1907, when the city of Cluj-Napoca was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, under the name “KolozsváriVasutas Sport Club” (Kolozsvár Railway Sports Club).
The team from Transylvania found its way to high performance and qualifications in the Champions League groups in 2008, after bringing the title in the province for the first time in more than a decade. The team has set even a record since 2002, having managed to win eight trophies: the Liga I championship (three times), the Romanian Cup (three times), and the Romanian Super cup (twice).
The Szabó Gergő (pilot) and Borbély Károly (copilot) team, sponsored since 2011 by EnergoBit, is one of the main leading teams from Transylvania, that has successfully gathered an impressive track record in the past years at national and international auto rally competitions.
Joining the BCR Leasing Rally Team in 2014, Szabó Gergő and Borbély Károly, driving a Citroen DS3 R5, started a new journey that lead them to the title of Absolute National Vicechampion in 2015. The team also won several national competitions like: Moldova Rally Challenge, Sibiu Rally Challenge and Iasi Rally Challenge.
EnergoBit proudly supported one of Cluj-Napoca’s oldest sports club: U-BT.
The history of Cluj’s basketball tradition reaches back to the 1930’s, when the first baskets were installed at the Catholic High School. In the early period, basketball was practiced and taught in university and after 1942 they started popularizing it in schools as well. The Basketball section of the University’s Club from Cluj was founded in 1947, parallel to the existing one at the Babes-Bolyai University (BEAC). The two clubs were merged in 1950, year that marked the funding of the parent sports club of U-BT (U Mobitelco).
U-BT is a professional basketball club that competes in the National League. The best performance came in 1992 when the team became National Champion and they also won the Championship in 1993, 1996 and 2011, and the Romanian Cup in 1995.
EnergoBit supports the annually organized Winners Tennis Club Championship. The event is a unique one because it offers the possibility for non-professional tennis players to participate in the competition and it promotes sports and a healthy lifestyle among youth and young families with children.
