This first edition of the event was organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest at the beginning of April, in an Excellence Gala hosted by the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bucharest.

150 participants were present at The Romanian Energy Awards, including – public authorities, energy providers, suppliers of equipments, attorneys and funding institutions. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment, in partnership with ANRE (Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority), Transelectrica, ACUE (Association of Companies for Energy Utilities), Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council and RWEA.

EnergoBit ESCO was honored with the “Energy Efficiency Program of the Year” award in the section “Outstanding Programs”, which includes the exceptional programs, initiatives and achievements in the energy sector.

“This is an acknowledgement of all efforts and actions EnergoBit has initiated in the energy efficiency field since the ‘90s. The partnership made with EBRD in 2011 is a confirmation of the trust invested in EnergoBit and its ESCO project program in Romania” (Tudor Socea –EnergoBit ESCO CEO).

EnergoBit ESCO, member of EnergoBit Group, ensures the financing and implementation of the Energy Efficiency (EE) projects, with recovery of investments from the energy savings made during a certain time interval.

ESCO projects include both the public sector (public street lighting, public health, education, sports and culture units, administrative unit offices, heat carrier production facilities), as well as the private sector (targeting mainly the industrial segment).

Within the projects, EnergoBit ESCO provides the management, the installation and operation of the plants, including project funding by in-house facilities, with the investment to be recovered from the energy savings achieved. The particularity of such projects is given by the fact that the end users will benefit from an updated energy installation, with zero-investment costs. Throughout the agreement, the annual energy operation costs will not exceed the values seen up to the implementation of the project; on the contrary, they may decrease. Furthermore, at the end of the agreement, the investment made is transferred free of charge to the beneficiary.

Currently, EnergoBit ESCO is developing 14 projects that require investments amounting to 17.5 million EURO. Of this value, the highest percentage is held by the industry cogeneration projects and those relating to the modernization of the public lighting systems.

In order to run the energy efficiency projects, in 2011, the company concluded a partnership with the EBRD (The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), by which it received a specialized credit amounting to 10 million EURO. Another part of all energy efficiency  projects  are sustained by in-house resources.
